Gender Fairness in Street Names
In April 2021, the reality that was in front of my eyes for 60 years penetrated my consciousness - in most cities and towns in Israel, men are 5-15 times more favored compared to women, being commemorated in street names. This situation is extremely unfair, so I joined the efforts to change it.
Seemingly, gender fairness can be achieved by naming new streets after women, but even if every month a new street is named after a woman in every town and city, gender fairness will be achieved within decades or centuries, if at all.
Therefore, the Gender Fairness in Street Names initiative is working to achieve gender fairness by converting gender-neutral street names to female names.
